“Nina Simone was all women.” Toni Morisson
Nina Simone was a committed icon, an activist artist. American musician, singer and songwriter, Nina Simone is one of the essential artists of the 20th century. She was also a mother. With her daughter, Lisa, they have had a chaotic, confrontational and passionate relationship. In Nina Lisa, Lisa moves into the villa in France, where her mother ended her days, near Aix-en-Provence. She finds her autobiography there and from then on, Nina appears to her. That night, the two women who have so much to say to each other will talk to each other and sing about love, parentage, the struggle for civil rights, disease, Afrofeminism.
Public and critical success, this theatrical and musical odyssey where the music of Nina Simone has its place, is carried by two superb voices, Dyna and Isnelle da Silveira, accompanied by the emblematic Belgian pianist, Charles Loos.
An exceptional moment, a captivating spectacle
And this show will particularly resonate with great emotion at the Palais des Congrès because Le Mans Jazz, in 1991, invited Nina Simone there for a memorable concert…!
