A harmonious duet for a nod to Dave Brubeck

This duo, struck bars paired up with blown bars, associates talented musicians of the same generation sharing the same passion and desire for musical adventure. Their instruments present obvious similarities ( keyboards, polyphony, vibrating bars), although the ways of producing the sound are different they are also complementary.

The chromatic accordion, the Vibraphone, the marimba all appeared fairly recently in the history of music. The three of them appeared at the beginning of the twentieth century, they play an outstanding part in all the spheres of the musical world : popular and traditional music, jazz and modern music.

The duo’s originality resides in the association of percussion keyboards with the accordion, and in the way the instruments are dialoging. They deal with a wide repertoire reuniting the different musical spheres with high standards and as demanding composition as balance. The whole being linked with freedom of improvisation and a strong personality.

The program presented at Chorus will revolve around the world of Dave Brubeck, whose 100th birthday will be celebrated in 2020. American pianist and composer, he is particularly famous for his album “Time Out” and the following “Time Further Out” ». The both of them shook up the traditional rhythm of jazz by creating a unique style at the crossroads of European classical music and jazz.
